On yet another rainy muddy day, the Hurricanes defeated the Metros 3-0. Someone claiming to be Mike Dunbar had a hat trick for the Hurricanes. The Over The Hill league office announced immediately after the game that a full investigation would be done to determine who the player really was, as the real Mike Dunbar has never scored that much in his life. The first goal was too memorable for words, plus I was hitting up the catering spread in the press room at the time. The Hurricanes lead 1-0 at the interval. In the fourth quarter of the game, Graham Vincent played a great ball on route 1 to "Mike Dunbar", who scored with relative ease. Later in the fourth quarter, Rachel Tippy "Cup" showed that her off-season training at the Lars Hybel skills camp has paid off, as she weaved her way through three defenders, only to go down as if shot when the last defender made contact with her. Albert van Geelen, who spent his off-season at the Kenny Kyle coaching camp, showed how well his time at camp was spent by deciding that it made sense for him to take the ensuing free kick from the edge of the penalty area rather than planting his 6'8" frame nearer the goal. He floated the free kick perfectly to "Mike" at the far post, who nodded it home.
Frank Montabon continued his comical stylings at goalkeeper by conspiring to let a skipping ball get under him in the early moments of the game, only to be saved by a dodgy offside call. He also managed to let a corner kick hit the crossbar towards the far post.
Rafael Geronimo was given a yellow card after getting tangled up with a Metros player. The collision was not the reason for the yellow card; rather it was Rafael's colorful use of ingles.
Honorable Mentions: Aaron Gassmann for chasing everything down that came his way and his unusual technique for coming to a dead stop. Crystal Gotro for showing little regard for her personal safety. Everyone who shanked a cross behind the goal (too many to list).
